I believe that language is who you are and you shouldn't be ashamed of it. If you don't embrace your way of speaking it will be hard for you to accept you as you. It's all part of feeling comfortable in your own skin.
Part of what helped me support my belief was the guest speaker, Ms. Lewis. She showed us that her language was really part of her. Like when she spoke on the phone with her mom, maybe she hadn't used her southern dialect for a long time, but it was there, buried deep inside her mind, maybe, but it was still there. because it's truly part of who she is.
